Her Journey Home

Sheena Castlereagh wrapped up her final load of work at the Decatur Street Financial Company in down town New Bay, Florida. It was a quarter past four PM on a Thursday evening and she was anxious to get home.

All week, Sheena had been working long hours without breaking for lunch in an attempt to complete all of her work assignments before Friday.

Work for Sheena was turning unkempt Client bookkeeping records into organized and easy to read records. Part of her job was preparing a full journalised budget her boss could use to file her Client’s income taxes. A job Sheena had had since her business college graduation.

Sheena finished the last section of her work, got her purse and left the building at exactly four: fifty five PM.

On Deca Street, Sheena walked to Billows Street, turned right onto Billows Street and walked down to Stephens Auto Shop at the end of that street.

Sheena got her car, a classic pale blue Xian sedan, and drove it to the final gas station before leaving the city. She filled up on gas and left New Bay.

Minutes later, Sheena drove to her country home a few miles away.

Around six: thirty pm, Sheena pulled into the driveway of her country home and parked at the front porch deck of the single wide mobile home she shared with her former college office co worker and fellow college graduate Jason Arden.

Sheena got her purse and her keys, got out of her car, closed and locked the car door, stepped onto the front porch deck and entered the mobile home.

Jason was in the kitchen putting supper … Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, dinner rolls and a fresh pitcher of sweet tea with ice … on the table.

He noticed Sheena and motioned her to sit down at the table. Reluctantly, Sheena did. Jason poured two tall glasses of sweet ice tea and joined her at the table.

Sheena and Jason ate supper in complete silence.

After supper, Sheena did the dishes & cleaned up the kitchen while Jason lounged on the long gray sofa.

Finished, Sheena joined him on the sofa.

Jason turned to Sheena and let out a hintful sigh.

“What?” Sheena asked.

“What’s going on?” Jason questioned. “You’ve been acting rather strangely the past several days and I wanna know why.” Jason said. “FYI, Sheena, your boss has also noticed your strange behavior.”

“What makes you think there’s something going on?” Sheena asked.

“You haven’t been yourself lately.” Jason answered.

“That concerns you?” Sheena inquired.

“Yes it does.” Jason admitted. “What is going on with you?”

“I honestly don’t know.”

“Sheena!”

“Honestly, Jason, I don’t know what’s going on with me.” Sheena finally confessed.  “I’m getting a distinctive urge to go back to Woodbridge and I don’t know why.”

“Maybe you’re homesick.” Jason suggested. “It has been nearly a decade since you came here.”

“That’s true, but I am getting the feeling that this time I’ll never be able to leave.”

Jason looked at Sheena oddly.

“I can’t explain it, Jason.”

Sheena got up from the sofa and went into her bedroom.

Jason couldn’t put his finger on it, but he could sense Sheena was not telling him the whole story. He was right. There was something Sheena was keeping from him. Something Sheena wouldn’t dare tell him or anybody else for that matter.

In her bedroom, Sheena changed into the mini gown she wore as a nightgown and crawled into bed. Sheena curled up in front of the opened window and looked out into the night sky.

Slowly, Sheena grew tired and laid down. She fell asleep.

But all too soon, Sheena was awakened by a computerized masculine voice announcement … “Lieutenant Elisabeth to Captain’s office.”

Shortly thereafter, Sheena found herself walking along the metallic corridors of an enormous starship.

Minutes later, Sheena approached the Captain’s office door and tapped the Announcer key.

“Enter, Lieutenant,” answered Captain Simon Mason.

Sheena moved her hand over the Identity Recognition key and the door opened.

Sheena entered the Captain’s office as the door closed behind her and crossed to the desk.

Captain Mason, a tall handsome Human Alien with lightly tanned skin and shoulder length brown hair but whitish blue eyes, stood up and walked around his desk to her.

“I should send you to the Brig, Lieutenant, but I won’t.” Captain Mason said.

Sheena looked at him completely confused.

“You had no right switching places with an unknowing Earth Human.” Captain Mason questioned.

“Who are you and what are you talking about?” Elisabeth questioned.

“I am Simon Mason. I am the captain of this starship. You are Lieutenant Elisabeth Kortekk. You are the runaway daughter of Jordan Kortekk and his mistress Aveilia.

“Who are they?”

“Jordan is Chief Warrior of the Kortekk army on the planet Nebula III.”

“Aveilia?”

“Aveilia is the Matriarch of the Kortekk family.”

“Why am I here, Captain?”

“To receive your father’s message.”

“What message?”

Simon reached behind him and tapped the hologram key.

Seconds later, the image of Jordan Kortekk appeared in the office in front of them.

“Elsabeth, my beautiful daughter, I am so glad to see you’ve finally been found. I don’t know exactly what happened the night you disappeared from our underground city, but I am glad you’re alright.” Jordan said. A pause. “My daughter, it is time for you to return home.  Our city is under seige & your assistance is desperately needed. I’m sending Captain Mason and his Crew to get you. They should arrive on Earth at the Woodbridge UFO sightings in two Earth days. Make absolutely sure you are there.”

Jordan’s image vanished.

“Is Sheena aboard, Captain?” Elsabeth asked.

“She is and she’s anxious to switch bodies with you.” Simon said.

“Where is she?”

“Your quarters on Deck Six.” Simon answered. “Dismissed.”

Elsabeth saluted Simon and left his office. She journeyed through the starship corridors, down five deck ladders onto Deck Six and then to her quarters. How she knew where to find her quarters was beyond her.

Elsabeth arrived at the door of her quarters but before she could enter, the door opened and an attractive Human Alien with long blonde hair and light gray eyes and dressed in a Lieutenant’s uniform emerge from the quarters.

“Excuse me, Miss.” Sheena said.

Elsabeth stepped aside as Sheena, the real Sheena Castlereagh, walked off down the corridor.

Elsabeth entered the quarters. The door closed behind her. She looked about the quarters in search of pictures of her biological parents Jordan and Aveilia. But before she could find any, a strange image in the mirror caught her attention. The image in the mirror looking back at her was the REAL Lieutenant Elisabeth Kortekk and not the image of the human woman she had been since her Earth childhood. For the very first time, Elisabeth saw exactly what she truly looked like and she was not pleased at the sight of her true self.

Machello, Nebraska   Wednesday, September 23, 2015 11:28 PM

Curled up on the large bed in the upstairs bedroom of their parents’ home on Blackstone Drive, April Chapman and her younger sister Sofia looked out of the large opened window onto the wooded backyard.

The night was refreshingly cool and there was a nice breeze blowing in through the window.

As they looked into the night sky, Sofia and April saw a mysterious bright light appear in the night sky.

While they watched the mysterious light, April and Sofia saw it change into an enormous, oval shaped UFO. They shared a look and looked back at the UFO and saw it descend into the wooded backyard.

Being the curious teenagers they were, Sofia and April got off the bed and left their bedroom.

Quietly, the girls went down stairs into the living room, walked into the kitchen and out into the backyard.

In the backyard, April and Sofia walked into the woods. Cautiously, they walked through the woods to the area of the UFO landing.

They stopped shy of the newly made opening in which sat the UFO.

Sofia and April watched as the UFO hatch opened and three tall Humanoids emerge from the UFO.

The Humanoids, two Male (Garique and Mileck) and one Female (Sakawta), walked about the opening. With the use of only their fingers, the Humanoids sprayed all of the trees that surrounded their ship landing.

Unexpectedly, Sofia sneezed giving them a way.  Sakawta spotted the girls and approached them.

April and Sofia began to run but was soon cut off by Garique.

The girls swallowed the lump in their throats as the three Humanoids surrounded them.

Mileck drew his alien pistol. Sakawta raised her left hand and stopped him. Mileck shot her a furious look.

“These girls are harmless to us.” Sakawta said.

“They know we’re here.” Mileck answered.

“Nobody is gonna listen to us if we tell them.” Sofia spoke up.

“My sister’s right.” April added. *Even if we did say something nobody will take us seriously.”

“Shouldn’t you girls be in bed?” Garique asked, sounding like a father.

“Yes.” Sofia admitted.

“Why are you out here?” Garique asked.

“Our curiosity got the better of us.” April confessed.

“May I ask you a question?” Sofia asked.

“,What?” Sakawta questioned.

“What was that fluid you sprayed on the trees?” Sofia asked.

“Oxygen killer.” Mileck said, growing impatient. “Why don’t we just kill these Humans and be done with it?”

“Nobody is killing anybody.” Sakawta sternly said.

Celine Kent Chadwick laid on her stomach on her California king-sized bed in her Lake Delkar home intensely reading and carefully studying the Cody DiMaggio, Scott Scarborough and Shelley Spencer files she had recently obtained fro m the local Police Department.

Ever since the day she found out about the disappearance of her childhood friend Chad Chapman and then the discovery of a man fitting Chad’s description showing up on a New York City sidewalk dead, Celine couldn’t help but think the man name Cody DiMaggio could in fact be Chad.
